24 Hour run 2010

In celebration of our 75th anniversary we organised a 24 hour run at Ryton Pools Country Park from 12 noon on Saturday 24th July to 12 noon on Sunday 25th with all monies raised going to the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance service (WNAA). We even had a spot on local radio to promote the event. To raise money the track was “occupied” with one or more trains running for the whole of the 24 hours. During the “run” any members of the public who would like to take a trip around the track during park opening hours (day or evening!) could do so with tickets on sale for £1 per ride.

In addition to this five Teddy Bears travelled around the track riding on a car with an Odometer fitted, so we knew exactly how far “they” traveled in the whole 24 hours. For just £1 anyone could guess the distance they travelled and the 5 closest to the actual distance each received a bear together with a Certificate as to their authenticity plus a Badge giving the wearer FREE RIDES until September 2011 (when the Railway is open).

ALL takings from the run were donated to the WNAA, which operates out of Baginton Airport.
